War is Peace / Ignorance is Strength

If you haven't read Salam Pax, you probably should.

There's a lot of conjecture regarding the authenticity of Salam's blog. He's a strange figure, after all, a gay atheist living in Iraq. But I suspect there's far more evidence to support his credibility than to compromise it. Firstly, consider the level of detail - this guy really knows Baghdad. Secondly, consider the fact that his blog began in December 2001 - why in the world would someone have maintained this character for nearly a year before the US mentioned Iraq? Thirdly, consider the far more knowledgeable arguments put forth by Diane.

Salam appears to have removed comment links from his blog, but the URL for one series of comments is still in my browser cache. It's here: http://www.haloscan.com/comments.php?user=salam&comment=riverbend. It gives some interesting perspective into how people, especially Westerners, are responding to his blog.

bleh

Among the really, really stupid toys I've made is this silly thing. It's basically just a generator for a very simple English sentence structure. It's a lot funnier if you happen to be a total geek (which I know some of you are) and if you happen to have a perennially dirty mind (which I know most of you — no, all of you — do). Anyway, it's amusing for thirty seconds or so.
