Google, Writely and vacant buzz

There's been a great deal of buzz lately on Google's acquisition of Writely, an interactive rich-text web-based word processor with collaborative features. Is Google building an MS Office killer? Has Google declared war on Microsoft?

It's just as likely that Google acquired Writely to integrate into Gmail or Blogger. Google has endless uses for an application like Writely, and until we have more information, there's little reason to assume that Google is building a Super Mega Perfect Web Office Suite.

By the way, I like the new design. The Entry page is particularily striking!!

Thanks – I actually just reverted to an older version of the entry page. Design doesn’t come naturally to me – it tends to be a great deal of frustrating work. I decided just to go with older version instead of slipping into the hair-pulling tedium of designing a new entry page.

And thanks for “gegenschein,” by the way. I didn’t know what that was until just now.
