small site note

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

As you may know, I've been going back and forth on somniloquy.org's design for some time. I've tinkered with various aspects of the site, including several versions of the index page, for quite awhile; but I haven't had time to give the site the full overhaul it really requires. Right now, it's a mish-mash of sprawling layout and code, with some of it going back years. Anyway, to this end there are now two index pages active for somniloquy.org. The old "hand and smoke" page is the default for most browsers; but Safari's color palette is superior to the palette of other browsers, so it renders two different kinds of blue. Thus, Safari gets the "hair after" index page.

Yes, it's a total kludge. Yes, I'm not proud of it. No, I don't plan to fix it anytime soon.

Off to work.

"… in much of the work we offer here, there is a certain lightness that we particularly admire. This lightness is not flimsy; it is thoughtful and earthly, yet it defies the weight of the world. You'll find it in the poetry of Preston Mark Stone, who leads us through a whirling afterlife, into the hull of the Ark, and out among the stars with Christopher Smart."
