I am ill. Over-nerved and ever-tired, skin worn thin as old herringbone. It begins in your gut, a fluttering. Travels up the spine, settles between the ears, and your vision turns yellow-brown. Something metastasizing in the lungs, the tiny sacks of air filling with gravel dust.

Winter has a hand around my throat.
